    Doug has practiced primarily in the areas of insurance coverage and defense. While a partner in the firm of Cotkin and Collins, he participated in the Stringfellow environmental coverage litigation. He also handled several other environmental and environmental coverage cases. Doug later had responsibility for handling all environmental claims tendered under F.M. Global’s commercial property policies. He was lead counsel in the litigation arising out of the Metro Rail collapse and, more recently, was involved in the continuing Montrose coverage litigation concerning excess coverage. Additionally, he has had significant experience with claims involving mold/contamination and underground storage tanks, including defense and coverage.

    Doug has served as lead counsel in complex arbitrations and bench trials and has argued cases before the State and Federal appellate courts in California. Doug is skilled in alternative dispute resolution and has served as a mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

    Education

    Doug was admitted to the California bar in 1987 and is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. After graduating with Honors from the University of California, Riverside, he attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California.

    Awards/Honors

    Recent Achievements include obtaining summary judgment for an insurer in a $134 million bad faith action in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington.
